Terms & Conditions
Catawba Yacht Club — Sunfish Learn to Sail Clinic
1. Acceptance of Terms
By registering for or participating in the Catawba Yacht Club Sunfish Learn to Sail Clinic, or by using this website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not register or use this site.
2. Eligibility
Participants must be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the clinic. Participants must be able to swim and be comfortable in open water. We reserve the right to decline or cancel a registration if eligibility or safety requirements are not met.
3. Registration & Capacity
Clinic capacity is limited to 10 participants. Submitting the registration form creates a pending registration only. A registration becomes confirmed once payment and a signed liability waiver have both been received and a spot is available. When the clinic is full, additional registrations are placed on a waiting list in the order received.
4. Fees & Payment
The clinic fee is $450 per participant, or $250 for Catawba Yacht Club members. Payment is accepted by check or Zelle as described on the registration page. Fees cover instruction, use of club Sunfish sailboats, safety equipment, and clinic materials.
5. Waiver Requirement
Every participant must complete and sign the liability waiver before going on the water. Participation will not be permitted without a signed waiver on file.
6. Cancellations & Refunds
Cancellations made more than 30 days before the clinic start date receive a full refund. Cancellations made 14 to 30 days prior receive a 50% refund. Cancellations within 14 days of the clinic are non-refundable, though we will try to transfer your spot to someone on the waiting list. If the club cancels the clinic outright, participants receive a full refund.
7. Weather & Schedule Changes
Sailing is weather dependent. Sessions may be delayed, shortened, moved ashore, or cancelled at the sole discretion of the instructors for safety reasons. We will make reasonable efforts to reschedule lost time but cannot guarantee make-up sessions, and weather-related changes are not grounds for a refund.
8. Participant Conduct
Participants must follow all instructions from instructors and club staff, wear a personal flotation device on the water at all times, and treat club boats, facilities, and other participants with respect. Alcohol and drug use before or during on-water sessions is prohibited. We may remove a participant without refund for unsafe or disruptive conduct.
9. Equipment & Property
Club boats and equipment are provided for use during the clinic only. Participants are responsible for damage resulting from misuse or negligence. Catawba Yacht Club is not responsible for loss or damage to personal property brought to the clinic or club grounds.
10. Photography & Media
Photographs and video may be taken during the clinic and used by Catawba Yacht Club for program, website, and promotional purposes. Let us know in writing if you prefer not to be included.
11. Assumption of Risk & Limitation of Liability
Sailing and water activities carry inherent risks, including capsize, injury, and drowning. Participants accept those risks voluntarily. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Catawba Yacht Club and its officers, members, volunteers, and instructors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from participation in the clinic or use of this website.
12. Website Use
This website is provided for information and clinic registration. Content may be updated or corrected at any time. You agree not to misuse the site, submit false registration information, or attempt to access administrative areas you are not authorized to use.
13. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The version posted on this page at the time of your registration applies to that registration.
